PROM!!!

Well, our darling little girl went to her Junior Prom this last week-end.  We finally get to take a reprieve from her saying constantly "Prom is almost here"... "Prom is tomorrow" .... "I am so excited!"  Yes, we get a break from that for a season.  Anyway, it was a crazy busy week-end, but we fit everything in, in the end.  Morgan had a track meet Saturday morning, so we had to go and get her so she would have time to get ready.  We also had to go and get her boutonniere before they closed also.  Well, the story here, she was late ordering her boutonniere, so she only had the choice of pink, red or yellow.  She was supposed to get cream.  So she thought that yellow would be the closest thing to cream.  Boy was she surprised when she got a nice "bright" sunshine yellow flower for her date.  Needless to say, you will not see the flower in the pictures, because I wouldn't let her put it on him until the pictures were over. (we even pulled some of the greenery to the front to mask the brightness ;o)).

A little story about the dress.  She really wanted a dress she could keep, but I wasn't going to pay $400 for one.  So we looked on line and at a few stores on line...  really nothing modest.  So then we were looking at a mail order place but that was going to take at least 4 weeks and we only had 5.  So I was inspired to look on KSL classifieds, at used dresses people were trying to get rid of.  I found this dress that very day, we got a hold of the seller, and went that very afternoon.  It fit her perfectly, albeit a little loose around the bust, but for $100, it was a keeper!  The Lord answers prayers, never doubt it!

And finally, in the pictures, note how tall Mason is.  Morgan is 5 foot 8.  She was wearing 4 inch heels.  We had her measure, so that she wouldn't be taller than her date who is 6 foot barefoot.  So with his tux heels on, we were planning on everything being okay.  Anyway, Mason is taller than Morgan with her 4 inch heels on!  CRAZY.  Enjoy the pics and we hope you all have a wonderful week!

Easter Week!

Well, I don't know if we are going to get an e-mail from Wes this week.  We did get a letter from his Mission Pres. stating that he had been promoted to a senior companion.  I am not sure exactly what that portends, but I know he is a great kid and will do a great job.  So the first photo on the right is of the stormy clouds that they encountered one day.  He will get really good at reading the clouds down there. From what we hear, he will get a deluge almost every afternoon. The next picture is the solar eclipse that they were able to see.  And we did him right with the Easter treats.  We sent he and his companion matching ties and some new socks.  I haven't heard back about them, but will keep you posted once we get the news.  Have a wonderful week!  Ah Hah... Here is our note from Wes...   So this Easter was a weird Easter! It was my first as a missionary and boy it was crazy! I was called the night before to give a talk in the Spanish sacrament meeting on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So given the short notice I thought it was pretty good! Then I got a super sick
package from my mom! Thanks mom and dad! There were 2 Easter ties in there! And they were paisley! So me and elder hunt have awesome ties that are matching! But then our ward didn't give hardly any of the missionaries Easter dinner! :( so me and elder hunt were just going to eat Raman or something but as we were tracting we talked to these people that were just super nice and they all of the sudden out of the blue asked us if we had eaten? We said no, and they were like come on in!!! And so they fed us a Spanish Easter feast! Yeah! The Lord is looking out for us! Among other things that happened on Easter, we got swore at by an angry woman for like 5 minutes, elder hunt lost his helmet so we had to walk all over Kissimmee and we walked a guy home who wanted to be baptized! Hope you guys have a great week and know that I love y'all!

Happy Easter

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday.  Ours was pretty quiet.  Sydney and I have been watching past episodes of "Cake Boss" on Netflix.  So Sydney suggested that we make a cake for Easter.  We have most of the supplies and I heard the homemade fondant is pretty easy to use, so what's to stop us!  The fondant was great.  Easy to use and fun to play with.  Our problem is just baking the cake!  We are high altitude and dry climate.  Does not make for great moist cakes.  But our butter cream was awesome and we had fun with it.  So go ahead and make your snarky comments.  We had fun with it!  Happy Easter.

Spring Break in the Garden

This last week was Spring Break.  We normally go somewhere fun and get away, but this year Jeff is hoarding his time off so we had a stay-cation.  It didn't help that we all got a cold this week too.  But the kids were awesome and we were able to get some big projects done.  My idea of putting wood chips on my paths in the garden didn't work out too well.  The majority of them blew away!  So I went and got a trailer load of pea gravel and the kids and I spread all of that out on my pathways.  It looks so nice now!  Then Jeff did take Thurs and Fri off, so we cleaned up the garage on Thursday, and then tilled up the garden on Friday.  We reinforced the borders of the big beds with boulders, so it is a little more uniform and we have clearly defined walk ways now.  Jeff is going to reinforce the upper bed a little more, but by then we were done!  We are going to try to trellis our squash this year, so we can get a little more out of it and be able to walk through it a little easier.  We shall see, we are definitely doing "regular" pickles this year.

We had a big storm after we tilled, so there is a bit of a mess up there right now, but it is improving year by year.  So that when we don't have the kids around to help, we should be able to manage on our own.  We are so selfish!

the Slack Line

Well, we were wondering if Wes got his slack line or not...  I guess we got our answer.  He got all of his companions hooked, especially Stark.  He was able to walk 1/3 of the line after about 2 hours which is really good.  They had one person come and talk with them about the gospel, so the devious plan is in motion, to use the slack line to draw investigators.

But they all thought he was crazy at first.  They didn't think he could do it.  It is a little bit different from the one we have at home.  It is wider and tighter.  So it takes a little getting used to, but Wes was able to do it after the 3 try.  Then he really got some respect!

Wes has a new companion now.  He is now with E. Hunt (as seen in pic).  We don't know much about him yet, but hopefully he likes nice pastel easter ties!  We are sending them matching ties for Easter.

But that is all we got from our boy this week.  So enjoy and we hope you have a wonderful East week!

Mason's Week!

Well, I must say that this was Mason's week.  His birthday present was delivered on Monday.  A HUGE lego set.  We spared no expense on this one.  This was the only thing that he asked for for his birthday, Lego's.  So as the doting parents that we are, we delivered.  He was given a smaller set and then the ginormous set.  So Monday night he set right to work putting together the smaller set.  He got up early the next morning to finish it up.  Then by Wednesday, he got to work on the BIG one.  This set had almost 2200 pieces.  It took Mason, his friend Jackson and Sydney 3 days to put it together.  It is totally awesome.  I know I am such a geek, but what better way to promote their creative thinking and cognitive skills!

This set has 3 different interactive layers.  The bottom is where you come in and get tickets and refreshments.  The second layer has the movie theatre with reclining seats and everything.  Then there is another set of stairs that takes you up to the roof.

Sydney was not very happy with all the attention going towards Mason, so we are thinking that she will get the next set for her birthday, and that will give me a chance to get a good price on it.  Boy won't Wes be Jealous!!

On another note, it being Mason's week and all, he got his braces put on this week!  I had to hurry and get a picture of him this morning to send to Wesley, so I had to wake him up!  So here is the brace face man himself!
The first 2 days were pretty miserable, but he is getting used to them now.  We had his friend party on Friday and had banana splits for treats, such that it would be easy to eat.  We actually invited GIRLS and his guy friends.  We played some games and watched Enders Game.  I think he had a great time.
Hope you all have a wonderful week.  We have spring break, so we will get a lot of stuff done in the garden, YEAH!

Enjoy!
